Bogaards’ national reputation for extraordinary verdicts and settlements stems from her stellar track record. “I’ve done 30 jury trials and lost only once,” she says. Over the past 27 years, Bogaards has defended numerous cases with successful outcomes, including low-impact rear-end collisions that involved spine surgeries and complex medical conditions alleged by the plaintiffs, losses suffered from fires in which landlords were sued, and brain and neuropsychological injury claims. Bogaards, notwithstanding her intense, total commitment to the practice of law, remains deeply involved in her community through charitable work. She is a director of the board of Legal Aid of Marin and organized its 50th anniversary celebration this spring. She also teaches the art of trial presentation at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and is a former instructor at Hastings College of the Law’s Trial Advocacy Clinic, and she guest edits CEB’s Uninsured Motorist Guide. She is a sought-after speaker and lecturer. When she is not in trial, Bogaards enjoys rowing her single Maas 24-foot shell under the Golden Gate Bridge and along the Marin coast.
